Lately, i've been a frustrated Mommy. I didn't want to ask for help, because i was SO sure that Emma was the only child in the world who was pulling this stuff so i didn't ask. For the past month and a half, this cute, sweet child has been ripping her PJs off and diaper off while in bed. Which, while sounding cute, is as frustrating as
This meant that twice a day, i was cleaning bed sheets, PJs, blankets, Emma, Pachi, The Wonder Pets and any other unfortunate stuffed animal who just happened to get, well, pee'd on.
Yeah. I know. Do the laundry math on that one. Fun times, right?
All the while, Ms. Cute-Stuff is repeating to me:
"What hawppened?!?"
"No take cwlothes off!"
"NO take dwiaper off!!"
"NO, NO pee-pee in bed!"
"OWNLY pee-pee in POTTY!!"
...all of the while standing there in her birthday suit, hanging on to Pachi, looking very serious, shaking her finger at me.
Finally, last night, the two parents who apparently were
WOO-HOO!
By golly, we would show Princess Pee-A-Lot who was smarter!
The suggestions were so simple that i began to feel stupid because, well, the suggestions were SO simple.
Suggestion 1: Put diaper on
Suggestion 2: Put on zippered PJs with no feet on BACKWARDS so that
Robert and i giggled as we got Emma ready for bed last night. Emma kept looking for her 'zwipper', hehee, which she just couldn't find. Finally, after singing a million and one songs, we kissed her and covered her up, giggling at how smart we were. Emma giggled because we were giggling, which made us giggle more.
About 3am, screams are coming from Emma's room. I rush in, and there she is, angry as a hornet. But, she is a dressed hornet. "Whweres zwipper?!?" she wants to know. Robert comes in a few seconds later, and we are smiling and giggling because we are now smarter than a two year old. After a diaper change, and a few more million songs, Princess In-A-Diaper settles back in. And we leave her room, hi-fiving it as we close her door.
This morning?
Heheee....
DRY SHEETS!!! WOO-HOO!!
DRY PJs!!
DRY STUFFED ANIMALS!!! OH, YEAH, I'M THE MOMMY!!
AND A DRY EMMA WITH HER PJs ON!!
I'm sure that there will be times when we won't be as smart as Emma is, lol, but this time, well, we WON! :)

Oh what a sweet little one! I love this post, it is how most moms of two year olds all over the world feel...
Issy!!! SWEET SUCCESS!!!!
My Emma went through this unsavory phase and poor little thing went to bed with a ten inch strip of duct tape covering the zipper of her footie blanket sleeper for QUITE awhile!!!! She would even say, "tape?" when we got her ready for bed!!!!
KIDS!!! Baffling aren't they??? Just as soon as you THINK you have them figured out they get you again!
Oh yeah, been there done that!! We did the backwards pj thing and it worked. Worst case scenario, I have heard of folks duck taping the diaper on!!
That is incredible!! Amazing the things you will find on the internet. It is ALL out there. I go to www.ask.com and type in just about any question and I will get an answer. That is how I found out how to get crayon off a nicely painted wall without it ruining the wall, got sharper off my beautiful wood desk, etc. Love the internet! Now, is there an easy solution to potty training???
Issy, you can just put a onsie that snaps between her legs over her diaper, I've never had a child get out of a onsie, if that fails, you can put a rubber diaper over the regular one then a onsie and her pj's. Perhaps the zipperered pj's bother her, try a set of soft cottone pj's, a top and bottom. I'm betting you are using footed pj's - she's a hot little latina who needs her feet free and so she "frees" everything. Try footless for sure pj's. HTH~M
