You want to be a what?!?!

I'm afraid that i've always been anti-princess. I never quite believed the princess stories growing up that "one day, your prince will come and all will be right with the world". It bothered me that there was never a Part II to the Princess story. You know, the one where the Prince isn't really a Prince and there is tons of laundry to do, beds to make, the dwarfs have run off and the Princess is dressed in sweats? I remember thinking in my late twenties, that if i ever did have a daughter, that i would change the story. Not by a lot, mind you, but i would add some things.

Like:

Princess Emma grew up loving school. She couldn't wait to attend school daily and get wonderful grades! Her goal was to be a doctor professional woman with a master's degree. After receiving her master's degree, she would then find a wildly impressive job. travel the world and be deliriously happy that she could take care of herself. Then, and only then, would Princess Emma look for a Prince who was worthy enough to be in her life.

I know, i know, it's nothing like any of the Princess stories that you've read, right?

So far, i've not read any dumb Princess stories to Emma. We read stuff like "Hop on Pop", "My First Bible", "One to Ten" and any animal book that we can find. You know, good books. Books that will have none of that Princess nonsense in them....

Emma is going to be a kitty cat for Halloween. I've been prepping her by asking, "Wouldn't it be fun to be a kitty for Halloween?!?" and "What sound does a kitty make?!?" daily. Yesterday evening at dinner, Robert and i were finishing up and Emma was still munching on a roll when i decided to show Robert our progress.

Me: Emma, what are you going to be for Halloween?

Emma: A PWINCESS!

Yes, you read that correctly. I have to give Robert credit as he neither spit his food out while trying not to laugh nor did he say a word. I couldn't say anything as i was stunned. A Princess?? Is she kidding? By golly, she was going to be a kitty! Besides, i've already ordered the kitty outfit, with matching tail and ears. And it's a rule: no Princesses in this house. Did no one tell her??

Apparently not.

I don't know where she got this Princess stuff....but i have a feeling that dressing up as a Princess isn't too far into our my future. Maybe she will wear the Princess stuff with a stethoscope around her neck? For some odd reason, i doubt it, lol...

Oh how funny! I am with you...anti princess or anything too girly girl. However, mayna is going to be a fairy with a spider tutu for Halloween. That is as girly as it gets. No primncess books here either. Those pictures you took are too cute!!
