...than i have ever had, but it was truly special Thanksgiving.
Often, when you live in a town, you don't ever seem to get the time to "vacation" in your own town.
So, that's exactly what we did with our Thanksgiving break!
We spent Wednesday night thru late Saturday afternoon at Opryland Hotel. The hotel was decorated for Christmas and was simply stunning. The decorations, the foliage, the trees, the lights--everything was beautiful. Because the husband was neck-deep in a project at work, Emma and i spent so much time walking the grounds at the hotel. It was such a treat to see everything thru a six years old's eyes....you truly become grateful for all that you sometimes overlook.
On Thanksgiving Day, we bucked tradition and ate at Monell's. I have eaten many meals at many different restaurants (because it IS possible to make eating a hobby, you know!) but this meal at Monell's was something special. Monell's is a family-type of restaurant with large tables to sit where food is passed around to who-ever is sitting with you at your table. I think this made Thanksgiving all the more special; sitting with another family and getting to know them while sharing a meal. The food was so very good....turkey, ham, roast beef, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and well, you name what you think should be on a Thanksgiving table and Monell's had it. Even little Emma, who tends to eat like a small ant, ate more than i have ever seen her eat.
Seriously, i think that our little family now has a 'new' Thanksgiving tradition!
I hope that everyone's Thanksgiving was a fun, happy, love-filled day....and that everyone remembered to give thanks for all of the things we are blessed with in our country.
